42 weapons surrendered, others recovered

Imphal, March 02 2025:
A total of 42 weapons, various ammunition, and other miscellaneous items were surrendered on Saturday in Imphal West, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Tamenglong districts.
According to a press release issued by Manipur Police Control Room, in Bishnupur district, arms and ammunition handed over at the Commando Unit included one each .303 rifle, DBBL gun, SBBL gun, country-made .32 pistol with magazine, camouflage P-cap, Baofeng wireless set, six 36 HE grenades, two camouflage pants, 19 bulletproof jackets, six bulletproof helmets, two camouflage shirts, two camouflage T-shirts, nine bulletproof plates, four 12-bore cartridges, 54 rounds of .303 rifle, 11 SLR ammunition, 10 rounds of 5.56mm, nine detonators, three WP smoke grenades, two INSAS LMG magazines, one INSAS rifle magazine, three signal cartridges, seven bicart strips, 10 casings of .303mm, two wood-piercing shells, five .303 ammunition chargers, and 13 ammunition chargers of 7.62 mm.

At Kaimai police station in Tamenglong district 17 local-made SBBL guns, 52 rounds of SBBL, nine Pompi guns, 10 walkie-talkies, six charger sets, 35 Pompi rounds (local cell types), five .315 rounds, 17 locally made hand grenades, and one 12-bore ammunition belt were surrendered.
In Imphal East district, weapons and ammunition were surrendered at different police stations.
At the Commando Unit, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, two INSAS rifle magazines, six INSAS rifle rounds, one Lath-ode shell, three No.36 hand grenades, four WP Green 80 MK1 grenades, and one Kenwood radio wireless set were handed over as Yaingangpokpi PS authorities received one 36 hand grenade, one country-made AK rifle, one Baofeng walkie-talkie, one green bulletproof jacket sans BP plate, one pair of Unistar black jungle boots, 15.22 Colt Mars ball rounds, one 81 mm mortar bomb, one SBBL gun, seven 12-bore cartridges, and one army synthetic ammunition pouch.
At Porompat police station, one single-barrel gun and two hand grenades were surrendered.
In Churachandpur district, arms and explosives handed over at Churachandpur PS, included one .303 rifle with magazine, one 7.62 mm Ghatak rifle with three rounds and one magazine, one 12-bore rifle, one single-barrel rifle, one Pompi gun, two locally made IEDs weighing approximately 2.5 kg, one bulletproof helmet, one bulletproof jacket with plate, one Baofeng radio set, one 36 HE grenade with detonator, one tear gas grenade, and two pairs of jungle shoes.
In Imphal West district, weapons surrendered at Lamsang PS, included one .303 rifle, one SLR rifle, five rounds of 7.62mm, eight tear smoke shells, three stun shells, one Patka helmet, one bulletproof helmet, four bulletproof covers, six bulletproof plates, one .303 rifle magazine, one SLR rifle magazine, and one carbine magazine.
Meanwhile, joint team of state and central security forces conducted search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
During these operations, they recovered one 5.56mm INSAS LMG with magazine and 20 rounds, one AK-56 rifle, three SLR rifles with same number of magazines and 30 rounds, one SMG 9 mm Car bine 1A1 with magazine and eight rounds, one .303 rifle with magazine and five rounds, one DBBL gun of Standard Gun Works, four No.36 HE hand grenades without detonators along with four arming rings, one Chinese hand grenade wrapped in black cellotape, two camouflage helmets, three bulletproof vests, four bulletproof plates, one camouflage magazine pouch, and one Khukri (knife) from Sairemkhul area under Lamsang PS in Imphal West district.
Meanwhile on Sunday, a total of 20 weapons, various ammunition, and other items were surrendered in Imphal East, Bishnupur, Jiribam, and Imphal West districts.
In Imphal East district, weapons surrendered at the office of the SDPO Porompat included two 9mm pistols along with four rounds, two anti-riot guns, one Enfield .303 rifle, one stun shell, and a tear gas shell.
In Bishnupur district, weapons were surrendered at the 10th Battalion BSF, Loktak Project, and later handed over to Loktak police station.
The surrendered weapons and items included two SBBL 12-bore guns, one modified .303 rifle, three No.36 HE grenades, one igniter set of No.36 grenade, one No.80 MK-1 grenade with a striker, one country-made .22 pistol with magazine, one 12-bore pistol, two Baofeng wireless sets with batteries, two helmets, one BP jacket cover, one BP plate, and one country-made 70mm mortar with a bipod.
In Jiribam district, weapons handed over at Jiribam PS included five country-made SBBL guns, one DBBL Magnum gun, 27 12-bore cartridges, 16 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm, 15 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm, two rounds of 5.56mm, one AK-47 magazine, and one SLR magazine.
In Imphal West district, weapons were Surrendered at Wangoi PS.
The items included one 7.62 SLR rifle with magazine, one DBBL gun, eight rounds of SLR, five hand grenades, one stun shell, one runner bullet, five tear smoke shells, six iron plates, two carbine magazines, seven BP jackets, six pairs of boots, one magazine pouch, one cartridge belt, three headgears, and one camouflage cap.
Additionally, at Sekmai PS, one carbine along with a magazine was surrendered.
Nearly 800 weapons and 350 explosive materials along with thousands of ammunition and military gears have been surrendered since the Governor made an appeal to surrender looted and illegally held weapons.
The first appeal with a deadline of.
seven days was made on February 20, and the deadline was extended for another seven days on February 28.In another operation, two active cadres of the KCP-PWG were arrested from the Ngariyan Hill, under Irilbung PS in Imphal East district.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Yumnam Abung Singh alias Chingakpa (39), and Thangjam Joykumar Singh (52).The two were directly involved in transporting arms and ammunition as well as extorting money from the general public, private firms, and government officials.
Items recovered from their possession included two 9mm pistols with two magazines, two Chinese-made hand grenades, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 10 rounds of 5.56mm INSAS ammunition, one INSAS rifle magazine, and one sling bag.
Additionally, security forces dismantled an illegal bunker at Haraothel under Leimakhong PS in Kangpokpi district.
