Meeting convened to develop Karong as Digital Island

Bishnupur, August 01 2025: In a significant step toward the holistic development of Karang Island as Digital Island, Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, convened a meeting today at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex to constitute "The Digital Island Development Committee, Bishnupur." The meeting centered on the vision of transforming Karang Island, situated at the heart of Loktak Lake, into a Model Digital Island and a sustainable eco-tourism destination.

The discussions focused on developing essential infrastructure of the island and integrated development across sectors.

In her address, Pooja Elangbam emphasized the unique opportunity Karang presents due to its strategic location and natural beauty.

She underlined that the vision for developing Karang into a digital island prioritizes on community empowerment, ensuring that no one is left behind.

The initiative is citizen-driven, aiming to manifest real transformation at the grassroots level, she stated.

The DC invited suggestions from various stakeholders to identify challenges and explore viable solutions.
