Local bodies felicitate meritorious students

Imphal, July 31 2022: Many organisations and clubs are continuing to felicitate meritorious students who passed the Class X and XII examinations, results of which were declared recently.

WAL United Youth's Club, Wangkhei Angom Leikai organised its 19th & 20th Annual Felicitation programme at WAL community hall on Sunday.

Speaking as chief guest of the event, Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arunkumar remarked that many students, despite getting high marks, do not seem to be knowledgeable about the subjects they have studied.

As such, he urged the students to understand their subjects well, as it will help them achieve great success in the future.

Presided over by WAL United Youths' Club president N Babu, the function was attended by Nungba HR Sec School retired principal Ch Dhirendra as guest of honour.

Meanwhile, Heingang United Club Organisation (HUCO), an apex body of 12 local clubs, organised the 12th Educational Meritorious and Sport Achievement award 2021-22 at Youth Development Club Library Centre, Heingang Maiyai Leikai on Sunday.

In all, 104 people including 15 sportspersons, 60 Class X students who secured high marks and 20 Class XII students, along with 6 students from poor financial backgrounds were presented with gifts during the programme.

Public Club, Top Khongnangmakhong also organised a felicitation function for the meritorious students of the locality at the premises of the Club on Sunday with Local Audit Fund Management Information System director Laishram Badalkumar as chief guest, Public Club president Laishram Vivekananda as president, PWD superintendent engineer Haobam Bhogendro as guest of honour and DM College of Teacher Education Asst Prof Dr Taorem Surendra as special guest.

In all, 19 students who passed Class X and XII exams with flying colours were presented with awards as encouragement.

On the other hand, Moirang Hanuba Tengbang Lup felicitated meritorious students of Sagolband Moiranghanuba Leikai who passed the Class X and XII examinations conducted by BSEM, CoHSEM and CBSE this year on Sunday.

The felicitation function held at Moiranghanuba community hall was attended by Semgat Sagatpa Committee Moiranghanuba president Kh Shyamo, Tengbang Lup president S Brojen and others.

As part of the function, a monthly pension plan for the senior citizens of Moiranghanuba Leikai, who are not on the list of beneficiaries of government pension scheme, was also launched.

Meanwhile, Development and Protection United Voluntary Organisation, Nambol felicitated Class X and XII students who secured over 70 percent marks in the examinations conducted by BSEM and CoHSEM, hailing from Nambol, Konthoujam, Naoriya Pakhanglakpa and Wangoi ACs, in a function held at the Public Hall in Nambol Bazar on Sunday.

Altogether 187 students who passed Class X including a position holder and 13 students who passed their Class XII exam were feted on the occasion, which was attended by Education minister Th Basantakumar as chief guest, Development and Protection United Voluntary Organisation president T Khaba Khuman as president, and CoHSEM chairman Dr Ch Sarat Singh and BSEM chairman A Joykumar as guests of honour.

In his speech, minister Basantakumar exhorted the students to pass with 100 percentile, adding that pass percentage will help in improvement of government schools.

Support must be given to students with poor grades and the talented ones encouraged.

He then urged for utilising the digital age, while adding the efforts are underway for introducing more advanced classrooms.

In another function held on Sunday at Wangkhei Puja Lampak, the 9th Councillor Meritorious Award, 2022 were presented to meritorious students settling in areas covered by IMC Ward No.19 .

Presentation event of the meritorious award sponsored jointly by IMC Ward No.19 corporator Y Lukamani and former councillor Y Ratikanta was attended by social worker Huidrom Vikram as chief guest and professor K Jugindro as president while retired principal Nongthombam Chandrajini, Standard College education department head Dhiren Phanjoubam and UNACO School Khongman guest lecturer Thangjam Gopinath were present as guests of honour.

According to award sponsor Y Ratikanta, he felicitates meritorious students of IMC Ward No.19 every year and encourages students by presenting gifts and awards.

However, meritorious award presentation ceremony could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid pandemic, and so it was combined this year.
