Governor meets Moreh community leaders

Imphal, August 30 2024:
Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the border town, Moreh in Tengnoupal district on Friday and reviewed the prevailing security situation, while also interacting with community leaders of Moreh.
During his visit, the Governor was briefed about the security situation by 26 Sector Assam Rifles commander brigadier Ved Pal at the 5 AR headquarters in Moreh.
IGP Kabib K, senior officers of both police and AR, and other district level officers were also present during the briefing.
In his address, the Governor advised the officers to work for ensuring safety and security of the people in the district.
Governor Acharya also met representatives of Moreh-based CSOs including Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Samaj Samiti, Manipur Muslim Council, Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, Kuki Students' Organisation, Kuki Women Union and Human Rights, Kuki Chiefs' Association, Hill Tribal Council and others at the Key Location Point (KLP) camp of AR, at around 11 am.
During the meeting, the representatives apprised the Governor about the administrative problems including medical care, issues in border trade if FMR is scrapped, and also submitted a memorandum of other key issues faced by them.
In response, he assured that all required measures would be taken up for finding solution to their grievances.
Later, the Governor inspected the Indo-Myanmar border fencing in Moreh town and interacted with the BRTF officers, who apprised the Governor about the progress of the fencing works.
Acharya also met and distributed relief materials to the IDPs staying in relief camps opened at Moreh Higher Secondary School and at the headquarters of 5 AR.
