Only 17 polling stns 'normal' in Tamenglong

Tamenglong, March 30 2014: Hectic preparations are underway in Tamenglong district in connection with the forthcoming 16th Lok Sabha Election in Outer Parliamentary Constituency.

Out of 158 polling stations in Tamenglong district for the Outer seat, the district magistrate has marked 106 polling stations as sensitive, 35 as hyper sensitive and 28 other as vulnerable polling stations.

Only 17 polling stations have been identified as normal polling stations.

The district is going to utilize as many as 13 companies of CRPF to ensure the smooth conduct of the election On April 9.One company of CRPF already arrived at the district yesterday.

In all the 28 vulnerable polling stations, the district administration is set to utilize CRPF and Manipur Rifles including civil police.

Micro or Videographer team will also use in these polling stations.

Of the 106 sensitive polling stations armed as sensitive, 61 are under 52-Tamei Assembly Constituency, 35 under 53-Tamenglong ST/AC and 10 others under 54- Nungba ST/AC.

The 35 hyper- sensitive polling stations include 10 polling stations in 52-Tamei ST/AC and 25 polling stations in 54- Nungba ST/AC.

Menawhile, talking to media persons at his office chamber, Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong C Arthur W, IAS informed that 24 sector magistrates have been appointed for the ensuing 16th Lok Sabha election.

CRPF and Manipur Rifles including civil police, not less than one sector of security would be utilize in each polling stations.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed that second training for the presiding officer and polling officer has been fixed on 2nd & 3rd of April 2014 .

"Absentees in the last training are given chance to report on 31st March 2014, failing which section 134 of the Representation People Act 1951 will be apply and case will be taken up against them", he warned.

Further, the Deputy Commissioner asked all the political parties to participate in the second meeting for EVM checking/ EVM commissioning scheduled on 2 April.

The Assistant Returning Officer, Tamenglong disclosed that the district magistrate has pulled down posters, banners and flags of the political parties which were put up on public properties.

"The next round drive would be conducted at Noney area.

If any private individual/person who did not want posters and banners to be pastedon their buildings may made a complaint to DEO/ Assistant Returning Officer, Tamenglong", C Arthur added.
