Mass protest rally against extortion held at Heirok

Thoubal, January 30 2025: Aggrieved over the imposition of unbearable monetary demands served by various organisations, the Heirok Apunba Club, an apex body of 24 clubs of Heirok village and Heirok Apunba Meira Paibis staged a mass protest rally at Heirok today.

The mass protest rally held under the banner "Mass Rally cum Protest Against Extortion" witnessed participation of numerous locals from four localities of Heirok before culminating at Heirok Polo Ground.

Speaking at the protest rally, W Jeevan, president of Heirok Apunba Lup stated that the protest rally was organised today by the 24 clubs of Heirok and Meira Paibis against rampant monetary demands served by various organisations in the name of the conflict.

He continued that since the beginning of the conflict in the State, extortion has immensely increased in the Heirok area.

A meeting was also convened after the rally and resolved to restrict any form of money collection and unjustified entry of outsiders in the Heirok area.
