Refresher course on leadership and academic administration concludes

Imphal, September 29 2026: The two-week Multidisciplinary Refresher Course on "Leadership, Academic Administration, and Legal Excellence in Higher Education" organised by the UGC Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), Manipur University concluded with a valedictory function at the MIMS Auditorium today.

The course was held from September 16 to 28 and brought together 53 participants, including faculty members and university officials from Manipur and outside the State.

The programme covered leadership, academic administration, legal issues, communication, mental wellbeing, financial management, interpersonal relations and emerging technologies in higher education.

Prof M Premjit Singh, Registrar, Manipur University; Prof Laishram Rajendrakumar Singh, Finance Officer; Prof RK Bhubon Singh, Director, MMTTC; and Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei, Programme Coordinator and Director, Manipur Institute of Management Studies, attended the valedictory function as presidium members.

Presenting a report, Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei said the success of such training should reflect changes in outlook and approach to institutional responsibilities, and noted that the programme included role plays, group discussions, presentations and case studies.

Prof M Premjit Singh said multidisciplinary courses help expose academics and administrators to ideas beyond their fields.

Prof Laishram Rajendrakumar Singh highlighted trust, accountability, resourcefulness and teamwork as key leadership traits and urged participants to apply the knowledge in their institutions.

Prof RK Bhubon Singh said the Centre had tried to cover diverse dimensions of administration and legal issues, and assured to explore specialised programmes on examination and evaluation as suggested.

Participants appreciated the experiential nature of the course.

Certificates were distributed during the function.
