Imphal, August 29 2026: A one-day cultural programme on 'Manipuri Classical Dance' was organised today at Meetei Indigenous Thang-Ta & Cultural Institute (MITTACI) Sanglen, Kongba Kshetri Leikai.

The programme was organised by MITTACI in collaboration with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Zonal Office, North East.

Speaking on the occasion, MITTACI secretary Mutum Herojit said Manipuri Classical Dance is one of the finest and most famous dance forms in the world.

He said Manipur is rich in Jagoi, Esei, Pung and Thang-Ta which form an inseparable culture.

He urged people to preserve and promote Manipuri culture together without undermining each other.

He thanked ICCR for supporting the programme and said MITTACI will continue to take a major role in promoting culture.

Cosmopolitan Dramatic Union director Nandakumar Moirangthem, MITTACI director Kh Surchandra Meitei and CIS secretary Takhellambam NanaoTomba attended the programme as presidium members.
