Imphal, June 29 2009: The two day long photo exhibition "Mammi gi Khonjel" at Kumbi organized by the Threatened Indigenous People Society (TIPS) a as part of observation of the UN's International Day in support of victims of tortured concluded today.

Speaking as chief guest at the concluding function of the photo exhibition, MLA T Mangibabu said that the photos displayed at the exhibition shows that armed groups and security forces are violating the rights of the people in the state.

The MLA from the ruling Congress further observed that the Armed Forces (Special) Power Act which gives extra power to the security forces which is not suppose to be in force above the people are enforcing in the state and under the act security forces are killing people without a day break.

He also expressed his solidarity with the TIPS campaign against violation of human rights by the state and non-state actors and assured all kinds of assistance from his side.

He further expressed his willingness to conduct such photo exhibition at every nook and corner of the state.

Speaking as special invitee, A Aramba talked on the right to life under the constitution of India.

He observed that AFSPA has violated the human rights in the state.

Even though after the Second World War in 1948, UN declared that not to violate human rights at universal level, in Manipur rights of the people are violating by the government agents.

The exhibition held at Oriental English Academy, Kumbi was concluded with a function graced by MLA T Mangibabu as chief guest, presided by TIPS president Aslam Khan.

Member of the Manipur Human Rights Commission, Ng Nongyai, former minister S Bira, principal of the Sanatombi Oriental English Academy, N Mani, NH-53 Kanglei Ching-tam Apunba Lup president Shilleima, social worker N Ibobi, general secretary, RJD Manipur state unit, N Ibohal, social worker, N Imocha and former MLA L Sharat also attended the function.
