Kakching, April 28 2026:
The Youth of Pangaltabi (YOP) has called off its agitation launched in protest against the alleged assault on Mayengbam Somorjit during a mass rally held on April 25, organised by COCOMI .
In a statement, YOP said it had been demanding public clarification from those allegedly involved in the attack, along with appropriate legal action.
The organisation noted that with some individuals linked to the incident have begun issuing public clarifications, raising expectations that those responsible may soon freed punishment in accordance with the law, and following a meeting with the representatives of COCOMI, during which its concerns were addressed and clarifications provided from the committee, it agreed to suspend the agitation in response to a request from the committee.
However, the organisation cautioned that all those involved in the incident must come forward with public clarification.
It warned that failure to do so would compel YOP to resume agitation in more intensified forms.
