Bishnupur, October 26 2024:
As part of the 78th Infantry Day, the Indian Army organised a "Weapon and Equipment Display" at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School in Moirang under Bishnupur district today.
The exhibition was witnessed and attended by over 1200 students and 75 teachers from the schools in the adjoining areas.
The event showcased sophisticated in-service weapons and equipment used by the Indian Army.
Such display spreads awareness among the children about the defence forces, said the PIB statement.
It is worth noting that Infantry Day is celebrated by the Indian Army to commemorate a significant day in India's military history.
On October 27, 1947, the infantry units were airlifted to Srinagar to defend Jammu and Kashmir against an invasion by tribal militias and Pakistan Army.
Notably, this was the first military operation conducted by independent India, and it marked the beginning of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947-1948 .
