MEELAL felicitates winners of Meetei Mayek competition

Imphal, August 26 2026: Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL), Kangleipak today felicitated the winners of its State-level Meetei Mayek Competition held on August 2 at the JN Manipur Dance Academy auditorium.

Speaking on the occasion, MEELAL president Langoljam Nongmailembi Leima said more than 13,000 students from six districts participated in the competition.

The prizes were distributed today to the position holders.

She expressed happiness over the increasing participation of students over the years and said MEELAL will continue its efforts to promote the script among students.

Noting improvement in writing, Nongmailembi said unlike previous years when students often used letters incorrectly, this year many wrote correctly and neatly.

She said it was encouraging that students from different communities took part and won prizes, showing their role in promoting the script.

She expressed hope that participation will increase in coming years and appealed to all communities residing in the State to help further develop the mother tongue.

OSD, Higher Education Jiban, HERICOUN president Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar Khuman, former MSCW Chairperson Prof Binota Meinam, MU Manipuri Department Associate Professor Dr Naorem Sanatomba, Pandam chief editor Meisnam Sivadutta Luwang and All Manipur Recognised Private School Welfare Association secretary P Romen attended the function and encouraged winners from Class I to X .
