Imphal, April 26 2026:
The Manipur Federal Organization (MFO) today called for immediate Government action to restore peace in Manipur, citing nearly three years of violence since May 3, 2023 .
In a press statement, the MFO said citizens have lived in "constant fear" with families devastated and youth disabled.
It cited incidents of homes being bombed at night, killing children, and questioned the Central Government's "National Security" commitment when "the fundamental right to life is being violated".
The organisation alleged that State police, IRB and Central forces are being diverted for VIP protection instead of public safety.
It also flagged "documented video evidence" of security forces using "brutal violence" against civilians and destroying property during peaceful rallies.
"Granting excessive and unchecked power to security forces without accountability is a grave threat to democratic values", the statement said.
The MFO added that the turmoil has disrupted education, with the promise of a "free and fair" environment gone.
It demanded an immediate end to violence, accountability for alleged misuse of power by forces, and steps to ensure the safety of all citizens.
The MFO said responsibility for the crisis and restoring peace "lies solely with the Government" .
