Imphal, November 25 2024:
There is no unity amongst the people with each organisation only looking out for their own interests, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) co-convenor Somorendro Thokchom remarked during a Ningol Chakkouba programme organised by Apunba Ireibakki Maheiroi Sinpang Lup (AIMS) at SK Women's College, Nambol on Monday.
Somorendro continued that the disunity between organisations and armed groups could lead to the 'death' of Manipur.
Even the public are disunited.
"Only when all are one and united, will everything become better," he stated.
Stating that no one truly knows COCOMI or is aware of the work done by the Committee, Somerendro said that many are brave in trying to pull down COCOMI in the name of the motherland, but are truly acting on selfish agenda.
The lies have become the truth and the people are living in constant fear, he stated, while also accusing the government of failing to act independently.
He then said that around 96 out of a 100 people are okay with the society being destroyed if their interests are met.
This is further leading to the disintegration of the society.
In addition, the ruling government is afraid of the centre and as such, unable to do anything right.
Thus, he urged the government to stand bravely on the side of the truth, while further calling upon the mothers and womenfolk of the state to help guide the same on the right direction.
Regarding the programme, Somorendro said that Ningol Chakkouba plays an important role in bringing together communities and as such, is celebrated by almost all of them.
The programme was also attended by AIMS president Oinam Nikarson and advisor Joy.
