Imphal, September 25 2024:
Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) has urged the people of Tamenglong district to fully support to the state government for early completion of Tamenglong-Mahur road project.
In a press release, RNSOM expressed strong resentment that certain individuals are causing obstruction to construction of the Tamenglong-Mahur road project under the pretext of demanding fair land compensation.
Urging all to support the long-awaited project, which is crucial for the development aspirations of the people of Tamenglong, it pointed out that once completed, the project will connect the remotest parts of the district, fostering equitable development on par with the rest of the state and the country.
At the same time, the Rongmei student body has expressed dismay, noting that certain vested interests are attempting to obstruct the national Highway project, move it deems entirely irrational and lacking in sensible decision-making.
Any further attempts to delay the project will be seen as hindering Tamenglong district's cherished decade-long developmental dream.
Such actions will not be tolerated and will be strongly condemned, it warned.
The Tamenglong-Mahur road project under the National Highway initiative should proceed smoothly, free from any disruptions caused by landowners or other parties, the RNSOM continued while urging relevant departments of the state and the central government to address the affected landowners' demand for fair compensation at the earliest in the larger interest of the people.
The organisation then thanked chief minister N Biren Singh, water resource minister Awangbow Newmai, former Tamenglong district deputy commissioner Armstrong Pame, incumbent deputy commissioner Dr L Angshim, Tousem SDO Paul Nungsha, as well as the affected villagers and others.
It appealed to all sections of Tamenglong population, CSOs, associations of village chairmen, and landowners to extend full cooperation to the state government, MORTH, NHAI Ministry NHIDCL, and union government for early completion of the national highway.
