NCD Cell, IE observes World Hypertension Day

The NCD Cell, Imphal East District, observed World Hypertension Day 2026 at AAM Kangla Siphai today under the theme, "Controlling Hypertension Together".
The programme focused on prevention, early detection, and effective management of hypertension.
Swami Premswarup and Rajaque Rahman, Senior Faculty and Meditation & Wellbeing Coach from the Art of Living, Bengaluru, along with Chief Medical Officer of Imphal East Dr L Indira Devi, attended as presidium members.
As part of the event, the two Swamis conducted a meditation session for 80 participants, highlighting the role of meditation in controlling high blood pressure.
Health screenings were also held.
VIA screening was conducted for 30 women, while 60 people underwent hypertension and diabetes screening.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr L Indira said the observance combined cervical cancer screening, blood pressure and diabetes check-ups, and meditation to promote holistic health.
"Meditation plays a significant role in preventing and managing hypertension", she said, stressing the need for regular monitoring and lifestyle changes.
Organisers said the programme aimed to raise awareness on hypertension and encourage community participation in adopting healthy practices for better cardiovascular health.
