Legal awareness programme on Child Marriage held at Phundrei

Thoubal, February 25 2026: As part of the nationwide 100-day Intensive Campaign for Child Marriage Free India, a one-day legal awareness programme was held today at Kombirei English School, Phundrei.

The programme was conducted by the Legal Aid Clinic, Samaram, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Thoubal, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) and sponsored by the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA).

The awareness programme was attended by Langathel GP former chairperson Sagolshem Tomba Singh as chief guest; Kombirei English School principal Mohamad Nawaz as functional president.

Khongjom PS OC Inspector Sh Joykumar; DLSA Thoubal Panel Lawyers, Advocate Mayanglambam Swami Singh; and Advocate Md Zakir Hussain attended as guests of honour.

During the awareness session, Advocate Mayanglambam Swami delivered a detailed lecture on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 and the provisions relating to Free and Competent Legal Aid, while Advocate Md Zakir Hussain spoke on the POCSO Act, 2012, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, as resource persons.
