Seminar espouses women's values in society

Imphal, February 25 2018: Stating that there were special Courts for women in the ancient times to deal women related cases in honour of their paramount values, Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) chairperson Dr K Sobita Devi asserted that the contemporary society needs to recognise women as an indispensable part of the society.

She was speaking as the chief guest at a seminar for women organised by Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Imphal on the theme "Role of Women in Establishing a Happy and Healthy society" at Dharmasala, Thangal Bazar today.

Sobita maintained that people should aknowledge the vital role being played by women both in the family and the society.

She elaborated that there are unique characteristics of women such as considerable degree of patience, kind hearted and dedication.

These are the precious gifts given to them by God.

There is nothing which Manipuri women cannot achieve, she added.

She stated that many Manipuri women like Mary Kom, who excel in the field of sports, education, entrepreneurship and various other trades.

Ima Market which is run entirely by women is nowhere in the country.

Manipuri women are the symbol of champion, she continued.

Informing that complaints received by MSCW relating to women indulging in unwanted incidents and immoral activities are on the rise, Sobita urged all the women to revive the distinguished values possessed by the sex group in the olden days.

Women should always remember their pivotal role and should not indulge in any acts that could defame their modesty, she added.

Giving keynote address at the function, Raj Yoga teacher Brahma Kumari Memita informed that Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya has been organising various programmes and events for women to empower them through spiritual consciousness and make them fully aware of their potential.

She noted that many women in the society are strayed off from the mainstream society when they get distressed and they often attempted to find ways to solve their problems through wrongful ways.

She stated that often many women used to indulge in bad habits and drug abuse in search of solution for their problems.

Ultimately these will lead them to spend their lives on the downtrodden, she added.

She added that the real solution can be found when there is spiritual consciousness and when women identify their potential.

The function was also attended by Sumatibala Ningthoujam, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Arambam Robita, Editor, Women and Crime journal as the president and guest of honor.

Rajyogini Brahma Kumari Radha, Director, Brahma Kumaris, Mumbai also delivered lecture at the function.
