Sniper rifle, mortar/grenade launcher recovered

A joint operation of Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF) and Manipur Police led to recovery of a sniper rifle, a heavy calibre (mortar) launcher, and other weapons from a hidden arms cache in Bungjang village, located in the adjoining areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by PRO Defence, the operation carried out based on specific intelligence led to the recovery of a sniper rifle, a heavy calibre launcher, a pistol, a single barrel gun, ammunition, and several war-like stores, all handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation and disposal.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to restore peace and stability in the conflict-affected region.
The forces remain vigilant, with a strong commitment to ensuring the early restoration of normalcy in Manipur, the statement added.
Similarly, acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police conducted a joint operation in Gangpijang village area, Churachandpur district on September 21 .
The operation resulted in the recovery of a 38mm grenade launcher, six 12mm single barrel rifles, and three improvised long-range heavy mortars.
The recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police, said PRO IGAR (S) in a release.
