Free eye camp brings hope to patients at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, September 23 2025:
A three-day free eye check-up and cataract surgery camp was launched today at District Hospital Hungpung, Ukhrul.
The initiative was jointly organised by the NPCB State Health Society, District Health Society Ukhrul, and the All Tangkhul Medicos Association.
As part of the camp, the medical officer highlighted the importance of timely eye care, stressing that proper consultation with specialists can help avert early vision loss.
The camp was formally opened with a special prayer by Rev Joshua Zimik, pastor of Bumrei Baptist Church, Hungpung Ukhrul.
He shared words of encouragement and blessings for both the patients and the medical team for the success of the health camp.
On the first day, around 32 individuals were examined for various eye-related issues, including cataracts.
Among them, 28 patients were above 70 years old, with the eldest being 86 years.
The camp engaged three ophthalmologists, five paramedical ophthalmic assistants, and one staff nurse to ensure smooth operations.
