Imphal, February 23 2025:
Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumanai has voiced the preference not to have any government which functions at the fancy of the central government.
Addressing media persons at its Dewlahland Kabow Leikai office here, on Sunday, Jadumani noted that after imposition of the President's Rule and the assembly put under suspended animation, efforts are on to form a new government in the state.
However, he maintained that if the new government is to be entirely controlled by the centre with state government merely acting at the former's direction, then it would be better not to form a government at all.

He further opined that the people are yearning for a government that stands independently and makes decisions on its own unlike the successive puppet governments that state has seen.
Reflecting on security forces intensifying operations to arrest village volunteers following imposition of the President s Rule in the state, he asked all concerned to keep in mind the circumstances that forced the youth of the state to take up arms.
The youths were left with no choice but to armed themselves for defending their homeland against attacks by armed Kuki militants, Jadumani asserted.
While reasoning that the situation would have been far worse had the youths not taken up arms to defend the land, he suggested that instead of arresting the village volunteers, they ought to be recognised and rewarded for their role in protecting the state from attacks by armed Kuki narco-terrorists.
He further added that during the imposition of PR in the state, the central government should identify and deport illegal immigrants from the state, prevent illegal immigrants from interfering in the internal affairs of the state, eradicate poppy plantation and ensure protection of indigenous people.
Jadumanai also clarified that the arms taken up by the youths of the state are not intended to wage war against the government of India and reiterated that the centre recognise and acknowledge role of the village volunteers in supporting the government of Manipur.
Additionally, he stressed that the demand for a separate administration should be firmly opposed if peace is to be restored in Manipur.
