RPF calls public voice for freedom

Imphal, October 22 2012: The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has called for collective voice of the people to free Manipur from the colonial rule of India on the occasion of United Nations Day which falls on October 24 .

In a statement signed by its Secretary Publicity, T Leishemba, RPF stated that Manipur was also affected by the 2nd World War as it was an active battle ground of the war.

Most parts of the world were affected severely by the two World Wars.

After witnessing such impacts of wars, 50 different nations held several rounds of conferences from August 21 to October 7, 1944 in Dumbarton Oaks of Washington DC.

Later, the representatives of the 50 nations signed an agreement on June 26, 1945 to form the United Nations Organisation.

Following the agreement, the UNO was formed on October 24 in the same year and began to work for the international peace, peaceful relation between the nations, mutual cooperation among the nations in terms of culture, economy and other issues.

Besides these objectives, UNO has been standing for equal rights and right to self determination for a nation by constituting an International Law.

According to the International Law Commission formed in 1947 and its Nuremberg Principle adopted in 1950, the UN agreed to stand against war criminals, human rights violation, discrimination and torture of human beings, colonising states and genocides.

Meanwhile, Manipur which got freedom from British Empire in 1947 was annexed by India by cheating and forcing the then king of Manipur to sign the Merger Agreement under duress.

Since then, Manipur has been living as a colonial state of India.

Even though India signed the UN Charter and agreed to support self determination of indigenous people, it is refusing to recognise the freedom struggle of Manipur and has been trying to prove the freedom struggle as acts of terrorist and secessionist.

Despising the policy of the India government, the statement has urged the people of the state to raise their voice and demand for giving back the lost freedom of Manipur.
