248th Heikru Hidongba celebrated with religious fervour

Imphal, September 22 2026: The 248th Heikru Hidongba, the traditional boat racing cum socio-religious festival of Manipur, was celebrated with religious fervour at Shri Shri Bijoy Govindaji Thangapat, Sagolband today.

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by First Lady Jyoti Bhalla, graced the occasion and witnessed the ritual boat race.

Carried forward through generations for centuries, Heikru Hidongba stands as a reflection of Manipur's rich cultural heritage, preserving traditions and community participation that continue to form an integral part of the State's cultural life.

Sagolband AC MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh, along with other dignitaries and a large number of people, witnessed the graceful spectacle.

At the conclusion of the event, the Governor presented the Governor's Trophy along with a cash award to the winning team.
