Imphal, March 22 2026: Arambai Tenggol has lauded Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his directive to the State Government to take strict and decisive action against drug cartels operating in Manipur.

The widespread poppy cultivation, particularly in the hill districts of Manipur, has emerged as a grave challenge to National security.

Illegal immigration has significantly contributed to the expansion of poppy cultivation and the growing drug menace in Manipur, it said, urging the Union Home Minister to take stringent measures, including the implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), to identify and deport illegal immigrants from the soil of Manipur.
