Curfew imposed in Kangpokpi

Imphal, April 21 2026 : In view of rising tensions, the District Magistrate of Kangpokpi has imposed restrictions on the movement of any person outside their residence from 6 pm of April 21 within the jurisdiction of Kangpokpi Sub-Division until further orders.

According to an order issued by DM Mahesh Chaudhari (IAS), the curfew has been imposed in consideration of reports from the SP, Kangpokpi and SP, Senapati about serious security threats to the lives and properties of citizens in and around S Changoubung and T Khullen villages as well as neighbouring areas, specially along NH-02 section in Kangpokpi Sub-Division, Kangpokpi district.

The order prohibits the assembly of five or more persons and carrying of any kinds of weapons.

It will not apply to Government agencies engaged in maintenance of law and order, essential and emergency services and any court and tribunals of the district judiciary under the jurisdiction of the High Court of Manipur.
