35th Nepali Language Day celebrated at Kanglatongbi

The 35th Nepali Language Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Community Hall, Shantipur, Kanglatongbi, on Thursday, organised by the Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur.
The programme was attended by members of the Nepali-speaking community, literary enthusiasts, students, social organisations and well-wishers.
Dr Harikrishna Siwakoti, Assistant Professor, Presidency College, Motbung; Mani Kumar Limbu, Principal, Roses English School; and Meena Bista, Chairperson, Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee, attended the programme as chief guest and guests of honour.
The programme was chaired by Sita Devi Chettri, president of the Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur.
A major highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of meritorious students for their outstanding performance in the Class X and XII Board Examinations.
Students securing the highest marks in Nepali and Sanskrit, as well as those achieving top overall rankings in Manipur with Nepali as a subject, were honoured.
Tarun Sharma, Raj Poudel, Deepen Dhungana, Bidhya Bhattarai, Divya Dhimal and Aayush Poudel received various memorial awards, including the Bishnu Prasad-Laxmi Devi Adhikari Memorial Award, Dilliram Acharya Memorial Award, Chandra Prasad Sharma & Kishor Kumar Sharma Memorial Award, Devi Prasad Baskota-Kamala Devi Baskota Memorial Award and Laxmi Prasad Sharma-Ganga Devi Sharma Memorial Award.
The gathering also extended greetings to the Manipuri and Konkani language communities on the occasion of their respective Language Days, highlighting India's rich linguistic diversity.
The cultural programme featured a musical performance by Shantanu Kumar Limbu and poetry recitations by Ghanashyam Koirala, Deepak Pantha, Suraj Chapagai, Hom Prasad Siwakoti, Hira Gautam, Homnath Chapagain and Ganga Singh Poudel.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kritimani Khatiwada.
