Imphal, July 20 2025:
The Makhan-Kanglatongbi Naga Forum (MKNF) has endorsed the indefinite bandh being imposed by he Foothill Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) against movement of Kuki people in Naga areas.
Expressing its unwavering support, the MKNF has also endorsed the three key demands raised by FNCC which reflect the collective voice and rightful concerns of the Indigenous Naga people of this land.
The MKNF has condemned, in the strongest terms, the following critical issues impacting Naga ancestral Territories;
1. The proposed "Tiger Road" project, believed to be a veiled attempt to alter territorial identity.
2. Illegal establishment of SoO (Suspension of Operation) camps by kuki militants within Naga areas.
3. Rampant poppy cultivation, which threatens the socio-environmental fabric of indigenous lands.
The MKNF has appealed to the Government of India to immediately dismantle all illegal SoO camps and militant training centres established on Naga areas, prevent further encroachments and cease any renaming of roads or landmarks within Naga areas without public consultation and halt the establishment of new SoO camps, especially along the proposed Haflong-Imphal Highway which are seen as strategic provocations that could incite future conflict.
"We remain committed to peace, justice and divine guidance.
Yet, let it be clearly understood that any effort to manipulate or expand territorial claims under the pretext of peace building will be firmly resisted", the MKNF said in a press release.
