Free cancer detection and awareness camp held

With the aim of spreading greater awareness among the public about cancer disease, a one-day free cancer detection cum awareness camp was organised at Arong Khunjao in Kakching district today.
The camp was jointly organised by the Cancer Survivors of Manipur (CaSoM), Karkinos Manipur, CMO Kakching, in collaboration with ADA Club, Arong Khunjao.
During the camp, around 100 people were screened for oral, cervical, and breast cancers.
Speaking at the occasion, CaSoM Manipur, member Wahengbam Kamala said rising incidences of cancer have created fear and panic among the public, making such sensitisation programmes essential.
She stressed that early detection of cancer, coupled with timely and proper treatment and positive lifestyle changes, can help treat and cure many types of cancer.
CMO of Kakching, Rajen Thoudem, visited the camp and personally extended his support to the organisers and participants, appreciating the initiative aimed at promoting early detection and cancer awareness at the community level.
