Imobi Solo exhibition wins critical acclaim

There are many people in Manipur who have, to say the least, emerged themselves deeply in the profession of their choice.
Shijagurumayum Imobi Sharma is one such person who has been pursuing painting with a dedication bordering on obsession.
After completing his diploma in painting from Imphal Art College, Imobi Sharma has been dedicating himself to the altar of his muse since 1991 with single minded devotion of taking the art and culture of Manipur to the outside world through his paintings.
His works have already been exhibited in other cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, etc, to name just a few.
In recognition of his talent, Imobi Sharma had been honoured with awards not just in Manipur but also in other parts of the country.
In 2010, a solo exhibition of Imobi Sharma was held at KK Nomad Restaurant, Chandigarh.
The exhibition had been sponsored by Madam Kiran Jagat, the First Lady of Manipur.
Looking at the unique style and range of themes, the visitors were all praise for Imobi Sharma.
Lately, another solo exhibition of Imobi Sharma had also been organized under the sponsorship of Work of Art Manoharmayum Foundation at Virtuosos Art Gallery, Bangalore from September 29 to October 3.Aptly, titled 'Serenity', the painting exhibition was inaugurated by renowned painter Dr MM Murthi.
Appreciating the works of Imobi Sharma, some of the visitors wrote in the comment book of the exhibition, thus: "Wonderful works; I enjoyed the colour composition of the works.
They are bright and full of life", Rajinz Rekha.
"Amazed by the creativity & thought, peacefulness of some of the paintings is beyond words", Prachi.
The overwhelming response of the people and success of this exhibition has made Imobi Sharma feels that, at least to some extent, his hard works and dedication has finally paid off.
After his Bangalore sojourn, Imobi Sharma went to Goa for another solo exhibition.
Sponsored by Kala Academy, Goa the solo exhibition was held in Art Gallery of the Academy from October 16 to 21.Chairman of the Academy Pratap Singh Rane inaugurated the exhibition.
Imobi Sharma is one of the lucky few who could showcase his works in the Art Gallery of Kala Academy, Goa.
In fact, the Art Gallery of the Academy remained occupied most of the time that one has to do the booking one year in advance.
All the 25 paintings of Imobi are in eclectic mix colour in the said solo exhibition.
All these 25 paintings were part of a series which is divided into five groups under different titles namely 'Nungsinabagi Lipun', 'Thritha Chatpa', 'Eshing-gi Jibashingbu Ngak-Sensibiba', 'Shanti' and 'E-ng Tappa'.
In the middle of the exhibition hall, Imobi Sharma also put up an awe inspiring installation to draw the attention of the visitors to the problems besetting his homeland where peace has remained elusive on account of ceaseless violence; imposition of economic blockade, etc.
In his comments on the works of Imobi Sharma shown in the exhibition, Willie Gosh of Naveen Times, observed: "Technically, Imobi employs interesting textures and appealing hues.
Every painting is laced with eye-catching forms and bond of sinewy lines.
Together these elements charge his paintings with hypnotic aura and manage to transfix viewers".

This latest Solo exhibition which has won Imobi much appreciation from the discerning art lovers as also the critical acclaims will further inspire the artists into further foray into his art.
