Andro wins Tourism Village Competition

Imphal, September 19 2024: Andro village in Imphal West district has been recognised as one of the Best Tourism Villages in the Heritage category of the Best Tourism Village Competition 2024, organised by the Ministry of Tourism.

The competition aims to highlight villages that excel as tourism destinations while preserving cultural and natural assets, promoting community-based values, and demonstrating a commitment to sustainability across economic, social, and environmental aspects.

According to an official letter sent by the joint director general of the ministry to the commissioner (tourism) of Manipur, the winners will be honoured at an official ceremony on World Tourism Day, September 27, in New Delhi.

Andro village, known for its rich heritage and unique cultural practices, has been acknowledged for its efforts in promoting sustainable tourism while preserving its traditional values.

The ministry has extended an invitation for up to four representatives from Andro village to attend the event.

Two of the attendees will receive the recognition in the form of a certificate and plaque, while the other two will participate as guests.
