Pambei-led UNLF mourns A Birendra's demise

The Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has mourned the untimely demise of Aheibam Birendra and paid the highest revolutionary honour to the departed soul.
The Front also shared the pain and grief of Birendra's bereaved family, relatives and well-wishers.
According to a condolence message of the UNLF, Birendra was born on July 1, 1945 to Aheibam Noyon and Maipakpi of Chingamakha Heiranggoithong Jaganatha Achouba Aheibam Leikai, Imphal.
Birendra grew up as a good student and studied at Johnstone Higher Secondary School, DM College and passed MA (English) from Gauhati University.
He worked as teacher at Oriental College and then as guest lecturer at Manipur University before becoming the director of Art & Culture Department and MFDC.
He was also the director of North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur (Nagaland) in 1999 .
The message also recounted that Birendra joined the Front in 1965 and took important role in its liberation movement and even became secretary organisation (home) from the year 1966.He also played a vital part in the establishment of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) in 1965 and even produced AMSU's motto - Learn, Service, Sacrifice - and logo.
He was also the founder member of Pan Manipuri Youth League (PANMIL) and took important role for the protection of the land.
For a long time, Birendra was a columnist in newspapers, member of Manipur Polo Association and functionary of Hueiyen Laanlong (HULA), Keishamthong.
The Pambei-led UNLF further said that Aheibam Birendra took important role in translation of 'Chainarol - way of warrior' from the Puya to English.
