6-year-old girl's finger freed from metal lock bracket at Shija Hospitals

Imphal, September 14 2026: A six-year-old girl from Imphal West was successfully treated at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt Ltd after her right middle finger got entrapped in a metal lock bracket at her residence on September 11 .

The incident occurred around 3 pm.

As per a release issued by Shija Hospitals, the child was initially taken to a local hospital and later referred to Shija Hospitals.

Her parents unscrewed the bracket and brought her with the metal piece still attached to her finger.

On arrival, the finger was cold and bluish, though pulsation was present.

The Emergency Medicine team promptly assessed and initiated safe removal.

Considering the thickness and rigidity of the bracket, specialized instruments were used.

An improvised technique using a drill was employed under controlled conditions to remove it.

Light sedation was administered for the child's comfort.

After removal, circulation was restored and the finger regained normal pink colour.

The child was observed and discharged in stable condition around 6 pm the same day.
