Imphal, October 13 2026: Differently abled persons have urged the Government to extend the service period of former State Commissioner for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), Waikhom Birahari, and give him the role again.

Manipur University Disabled Students' Association (MUDSA) president Kh Budhinanda, at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, said the former State Commissioner for PWDs was sincere in his efforts to uplift persons with disabilities.

Adarsh Chhetri, a research scholar at Ambedkar University, Delhi, said Waikhom Birahari is considered a friend of the persons with disabilities and his works have influenced and benefited many positively.

The students urged the Govemment to bring back Waikhom Birahari and extend his service period.
