Employees' cease work stir continues

Imphal, July 13 2026:
Demanding the Government to grant 10 demands including a hike in the DA/DR and extension of service period, employees continued cease work stir at the Minor Irrigation Department at Lamphelpat and Bishnupur district Deputy Commissioner's complex today.
The demonstrations were part of a cease work strike launched by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation.
JAC president Rajkumar Basumani said the council has been urging the State Government to extend service period of employees from 60 to 62 years, increase Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to 60 percent at par with Central Government employees, implement the 8th Pay Commission, revive the Old Pension Scheme, regularise Contractual staff, and provide service protection to Grade-III and IV AYUSH Medical Officers.
The JAC has also been demanding the Government to hold recruitment through the Manipur Public Service Commission and Manipur State Staff Selection Commission to fill 50,000 vacancies.
Despite repeated appeals, the Government is yet to address the demands, Basumani said, calling on all Government employees to support the JAC's agitation.
