Saplings distributed to promote sustainable farming in Jiribam

Jiribam, September 10 2025:
In a bid to promote sustainable farming and boost rural livelihoods, the Cashew nut Development Officer, Horticulture& Soil Conservation and Ex-Officio Project officer (MIDH), Jiribam, Yambem Pradeep, distributed more than 100 saplings of banana, 100 saplings of betel leaf, 20 yongchak plants, 30 lemon plants, french beans and other varieties to the newly formed Jiri Ningol Farmer Producer Group, Hilghat, promoted by the MSRLM.
The saplings were handed over to the group for plantation at their 2-bhiga farm area located at Sorok Atingbi Khunou, Hilghat.
Speaking during, Yambem Pradeep emphasized the importance of nurturing the plants in the right manner.
He noted that proper care and management would not only ensure survival of the plants but also enhance productivity, thereby helping the farmer's group expand its capacity and income.
District-in-charge Wahengbam Premchand also expressed happiness over receiving five to six different types of plant species from the Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department.
He urged the farmers not to neglect the saplings provided by the Government and called for their active involvement in nurturing them.
Premchand further encouraged the farmers to promote and protect the plants so they could thrive and contribute meaningfully to the group's prosperity.
