Imphal, June 09 2026:
The Electoral Literacy Club, Department of Political Science and IQAC, NG College, Imphal, jointly organised a 1 -Day Electoral Sensitisation Programme on "Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls of Manipur-2026" at the DDU Kaushal Lecture Room, NG College today.
President of Manipur Innovation Society Trongbram Tejkumar attended as chief guest, while Principal Prof Sh Shantibala Devi presided.
Vice Principal Adibo Nyumai was the guest of honour.
Prof Shantibala said the programme aimed to create awareness on the electoral rolls, which is vital for Manipur.
Held under the Election Commission of India, the session sought to educate both students and teachers on what SIR entails.
She noted that a similar exercise was last held in 2005, and after 20 years, the objective of SIR is to add eligible voters, correct wrong entries, and carry out door-to-door verification of voters.
The programme also intends to make college students aware of SIR.
With the new electoral roll including many who became eligible after 2005, such awareness will greatly benefit the public, she added.
