Jiribam, August 07 2024: The 10th National Handloom Day was celebrated today at Aribam Mandop, Dibong Mayai Leikai in Jiribam district.

The programme was organized by the District Handlooms & Textiles, Jiribam under the sponsorship of Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Manipur as a part of the cluster development programme.

Block Mission Manager Wahengbam Premchand Singh; Echel Club Dibong president K Khumanjao Singh and former president Hidam Mani Singh graced as the presidium members of the programme.

In today's programme, weavers namely Salam Saroda Devi, Sinam Dashiny Devi, Aribam Baby Sharma and Kunjamani Devi spoke about the importance of the day and the need to promote the indigenous handloom and textile products.

Speaking as the chief guest, Wahengbam Premchand Singh appealed to all to incorporate the advanced technologies and produce innovative handloom and textile products.

He expressed belief that using modem and advanced technologies will help in enhancing and promoting the local products to a great extent.

K Khumanjao Singh while speaking at the occasion, urged all to make dedicated efforts for the promotion and production of quality handloom and textile products.
