MSPCL announces power shutdown; Khoupum supply to remain disrupted for a week

Imphal, August 06 2026:
The Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) has informed the public that essential jungle cutting and line clearance works will be carried out on August 8 from 9 am to 5 pm along the 132 KV Loktak-Rengpang, 33 KV Rengpang-Khoupum, 33 KV Rengpang-Tamenglong and 33 KV Tamenglong-Tousem transmission lines.
During the scheduled shutdown, power supply to the 132/33 KV Rengpang Substation and all its associated 33/11 KV substations at Khoupum, Tamenglong and Tousem will remain affected, MSPCL said in a statement.
Meanwhile, MSPCL also informed that the rectification of the fallen double-pole (DP) structure on the 33 KV Rengpang-Khoupum transmission line, which was expected to be completed on Thursday evening, has been delayed after another major fault was detected during restoration work.
As a result, power supply to the 33/11 KV Khoupum Substation will continue to remain interrupted until the newly damaged section of the transmission line is fully restored MSPCL stated that the repair work is expected to take approximately one week, subject to favourable weather and site conditions, and appealed to consumers for their cooperation and understanding during the restoration period.
