46 new cases take Covid tally to 297

Imphal, August 05 2022: With detection of 46 new Covid-19 positive cases, out of 638 samples tested on Friday, the total number of active cases of the viral infection stands at 297.The state recorded test positivity rate of 7.2 per cent on Friday.

On Thursday, the state witnessed 36 new cases and two fatalities.

Out of Friday's 46 new cases (22 male & 24 female), 16 are from Imphal West, 9 from Imphal East, 6 from Ukhrul, 4 from Chandel, 3 each from Thoubal and Churachandpur, 2 from Kakching, and one each from Bishnupur, Kangpokpi and Pherzawl districts.

Of the 152 recoveries on Friday, 105 were discharged from home isolation, 3 from RIMS and 2 from JNIMS while backlogged cases of discharge accounted for 40 .

There are 22 Covid beds vacant out of the total of 38 in JNIMS and 43 out of 62 Covid beds in RIMS.

So far, the state has recorded 2050 positive cases and 13 deaths since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.

The current month has reported 221 new positive cases and four fatalities.

As on Thursday, 4,082 vaccine doses were administered, taking the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 31,22,622, out of which 16,18,418 had received the first dose, 12,90,306 second dose and 2,13,898 had taken the precautionary doses.
