Entrepreneurship Development Programme kicks off at NIELIT Imphal

Imphal, August 03 2026:
A seven-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP)under the Chief Minister's Entrepreneurship Support Scheme (CMESS) of the Manipur Startup Scheme was inaugurated on Monday at the Seminar Hall, NIELIT Imphal, Akampat.
As per a release issued by PIB Imphal, the programme aims to strengthen entrepreneurial awareness, business planning skills, and self-employment readiness among the youth of Manipur.
CMESS is a State Government initiative to support eligible entrepreneurs in setting up sustainable enterprises through subsidy-linked bank financing.
Under the scheme, viable business proposals can avail financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh, comprising a 30 per cent State subsidy, 65 per cent bank loan, and 5 per cent beneficiary contribution.
A total of 180 participants from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Ukhrul and Senapati districts are taking part, representing both valley and hill areas.
The training will cover entrepreneurship, innovation, enterprise management, and opportunities in the state's start-up ecosystem.
Dr RK Radhesana Devi, Director, Planning Department, attended as chief guest.
Dr RK Tombisana Singh, Joint Director, Planning Department; Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei, Director, Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University; and Dr Kharibam Somorendro Singh, former Director, Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), were guests of honour.
Dr Yumnam Jayanta Singh, Executive Director, NIELIT Imphal, presided.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Radhesana Devi stressed the role of entrepreneurship in job creation and socioeconomic development.
Dr Tombisana highlighted government and bank-linked funding schemes, while Prof Ch Ibohal underlined the importance of strategic planning.
Dr Somorendro urged participants to develop innovative, locally relevant ideas.
In his presidential address, Dr Jayanta Singh called for building digital skills and using institutional support to turn ideas into sustainable ventures.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
