Efforts on to drain floodwater: CM

Chief Minister N Biren said that efforts are underway to restore normalcy in the state following the devastation caused by Cyclone Remal.
The cyclone, which struck between West Bengal's Sagar Island and Bangladesh's Khepupara on May 26, resulted in widespread destruction and loss of life in different parts of the state, mainly the valley region.
Heavy rainfall triggered flooding in various parts of Manipur, including Imphal, prompting the ongoing rescue operations by local authorities, NDRF, Indian Army and Assam Rifles.
CM Biren highlighted the efforts of Manipur Fire Service in regulating flow of the Naga River at North AOC Imphal.
In post on X, he stated, "Continuing our efforts to remove floodwater and clean waterlogged areas, Manipur Fire Service teams have begun work to de-clog obstructions and restore the flow of Naga River at North AOC Imphal".
The chief minister also commended the Minor Irrigation and Water Resources Department officials and Imphal East district police personnel for their assistance in draining floodwater from various locations and aiding numerous affected families.
Biren praised the bravery and dedication of the Manipur Fire Service team, who continues to work tirelessly around the clock to address the crisis despite facing dangers and immense pressures.
