Bike rally promotes wildlife conservation, Sangai Nature Trail inaugurated at Keibul Lamjao

Imphal, May 31 2026:
The Forest Department, in collaboration with Punya Honda BigWing, organised a bike rally on Sunday to promote awareness on wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
The rally culminated at Keibul Lamjao National Park, where an awareness programme was conducted for the participants.
The programme was attended by L Joykumar Singh, Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), L Birmangol Singh, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Park and Sanctuary Division), and Prabir Ningthoujam, Assistant Conservator of Forests (Park and Sanctuary Division), along with Range Officers and members of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) team.
The officials highlighted the importance of wildlife conservation and the need to protect the State's rich biodiversity, particularly the unique ecosystem of Keibul Lamjao National Park, the natural habitat of the endangered Sangai deer.
As part of the programme, the officials inaugurated the "Sangai Nature Trail," a two-kilometre nature trail starting from Chingmei Hill within the national park.
A tree plantation drive was also carried out to promote environmental conservation.
