Summer Theatre Festival concludes

The National level Summer Theatre Festival held at the Library and Information Centre Kakching community hall came to an end today.
The Liberty Theatre Kakching organised the theatre festival under the sponsorship of the Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The valedictory programme was graced by Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar, president of Liberty Theatre Kakching Yambem Satya and president of Macha Chanu Kakching Dr Nongmeithem Pramodini as the presidium members.
Performances on Maibi Laiching Jagoi by students of Grace Cottage Cultural & Education Development Foundation, Kakching and Lai haraoba Jagoi by artistes of Performing Arts and Cultural Centre, Kakching enthralled the gathering today.
As a last show of the festival, Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory, Imphal presented a mime drama titled 'Cheitheng (Agony)'.
It is worth noting that theatre groups from Mumbai and West Bengal also participated in this theatre festival.
Speaking as the chief guest, Kakching AC MLA M Rameshwar underscored the need of promoting and preserving the indigenous art forms and cultural traditions to stay connected to one's roots.
He also stressed on the importance of inculcating a disciplined lifestyle and respecting the elders and teachers.
It is worth noting that the National level Summer Theatre Festival was organised with an aim to promote theatre art form in the State and to encourage budding artistes to take up this art form.
