Jiribam, January 30 2025: Denouncing the killing of a village volunteer and arrest of six other village volunteers by security forces at Salungpham in Thoubal district on December 14, 2024, residents of Jiribam today staged a sit-in protest at Samupunbi (Gularthon), Jiribam.

The sit-in protest was jointly organised by JIMWAK, SWA and Kangleicha Club, Samupunbi.

During the protest, placards which read, "We condemn killing of student", "Stop arresting village volunteers", "Transfer Thoubal SP to either Churachandpur or Kangpokp", "Terminate those police personnel involved in killing of village volunteer", "Repeal AFSPA, 1958 from Manipur," "Resign irresponsible CM and other leaders", etc were used during the protest and similar slogans were raised by the protesters.
