Imphal, September 29 2025: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has appealed to the State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha State Implementation Society, Manipur to cancel a September 18 notification/information letter, and urged the Department to grant a reasonable extension of time for the completion of civil works in the hill areas of Manipur.

The September 18 notification set October 20 as the deadline for completion of all civil works in schools.

However, it is well known to both the Government and the public that various challenges and difficulties are faced in the hill districts due to dilapidated roads, frequent landslides, and long transportation distances.

The conditions in the hill areas cannot be compared with those in the valley, it said, seeking extension of the deadline.

Moreover, the work orders for different projects were issued to different firms and contractors on different dates.

Therefore, setting a single deadline for all projects is impractical and unrealistic, it said.

Maintaining quality work is more important than executing works hastily and abruptly for inauguration, it added.
