Exhorting youths in joining politics, former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam today asserted that if there be brought about a political change, the state would be merging towards extinction.
Speaking at the political conference of the NCP, Thangmeiband Kendra held at Thangmeiband Lairenhanjabam Leikai today, the president of the party unit in the state observed that if the youths of today join in bringing a change in the political structure, the future of the state would be at dark.
He also said that attacking to the houses of the individuals with bombs and guns for extortion, drug abuse, looting properties of others will not bring development in the state.
If the politicians go hand in hand with such groups of youths, then it will worsen the situation of the state, he said cautioning the people to stay away from politicians having nexus with the anti-social elements for the sake of power.
"We cannot live like animal.
Almighty gives us the power to think.
No one from America, London or any other places would effort to develop our land.
It is us to effort ourselves to work hard for development, Radhabinod observed asserting that the major role that to take by the youths in bringing changes towards development of the state.
Citing the reason behind the holding of political conference especially for the youths by NCP, the former Chief Minister said that it was intended to nourish the youths as worthy politicians of tomorrow.
For the party, they are targeting to enroll 500 to 600 youths as party members in every wards of his constituency, he added.
While appealing the youths to join the party, Radhabinod also maintained that NCP is not party like the Congress to function under command of the New Delhi.
The party at the Centre is providing a room for running the party units in the north eastern region to suit with the soil of the region.
NCP is a partner in the UPA government at the Centre but the party unit here in the state is in the opposition but taking up various welfare progammes of the people, he added.
