Imphal, December 27 2025: Renowned Manipuri writer, educationist, and scholar, Dr Moirangthem Kirti Singh is no more.

He breathed his last on Friday night.

Late Dr Kirti Singh was a significant figure in Manipur's academic and cultural scene.

He was known for his extensive works on Meitei culture, history, and religion.

He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1992 .

In his honour, Manipur Library Association (MALA) convened an emergency executive meeting at State Central Library Imphal on Saturday.

During the meeting chaired by MALA president Prof Ch Ibohal Singh, members of MALA expressed profound sorrow and condolence over the sudden demise of Dr Kirti Singh.

The gathering shared the grief of the bereaved family and observed two minutes of silence to pray for the departed soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.

Moreover, the All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup has expressed deep shock and condolence over the untimely demise of its former organisation secretary Ima RK Sama Devi.

Members of the Lup extended their solidarity to the bereaved family and prayed that the departed soul may rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
