NSUC decries transfer of i/c SP

Imphal, February 27 2025: The Naga Student's Union Chandel (NSUC) has expressed shock and dismay over the appointment of Babitarani Swain, IPS as the new Superintendent of Police, Chandel Police and transferring Luikham Lanmiyo, MPS within a month of appointment to Tamenglong district.

The Naga Students' Union (NSUC) in a release has stated that, upon the transfer of the then SP of Chandel Police, Shivanand Surve IPS, as the SP of Senapati, Luikham Lanmiyo, MPS, the then SP i/c of Tamenglong was appointed as the SP in-charge of Chandel in an order dated January, 28, 2025 .

However on Feb 20, as per the orders of the Governor of Manipur, Luikham Lanmiyo was transferred back to Tamenglong as SP in-charge and Babitarani Swain, IPS, the SP of Tamenglong was appointed as the new SP of Chandel, said NSUC.

The NSUC questioned the motive of the authorities behind the transfer or appointment that has been done within a span of a month.

Stating that Luikham Lanmiyo, MPS, as the SP i/c of Chandel as fit and well-qualified, such sudden moves only reduce the credibility of the individual/officers and his sudden transfer has left the populace of Chandel in shock and the student body in particular.

Therefore, the NSUC appeals to the authorities concerned to re-appoint Luikham Lanmiyo, MPS, as the SP in-charge of Chandel for peace and prosperity in the district.
