Relocate Sawombung SDO office: Lamlai Cong

Imphal, January 27 2019: Saying that the shifting of the office of SDO Sawombung to Porompat has caused many inconveniences to the people of Lamlai A/C, especially in obtaining documents from the office, Lamlai Block Congress Committee has today warned that it will launch different forms of agitation along with the locals and womenfolk of Lamlai A/C if the authorities concerned fail to relocate the SDO office at its original place at Sawombung in Lamlai A/C.The Committee has also questioned why the MLA of Lamlai A/C does not pay attention to the matter despite being elected as the representative of the same constituency for three consecutive terms.

Addressing a press meet held today at the office of Lamlai Block Congress Committee at Chalou, Imphal East, Achoibam Deven who claims to be a leader of Lamlai Block Congress Committee and a social worker informed that the office of SDO Sawombung was shifted at the office of SDO Porompat in April 2006 after the former office (SDO Sawombung) was gutted in March the same year.

He decried that the office is not relocated/brought back to its original place (Lamlai A/C) till date even when the infrastructure for the office of SDO Sawombung has been constructed.

Besides the location where the said office is to be relocated/situated lies in a very secure place with Lamlai Police Station, AR Post and VDF situated nearby.

He further pointed out that the location of the office of SDO Sawombung at Porompat has even led to the decrease in tax collection for paddy fields as farmers even face great inconvenience in going to the office and pay taxes.

Informing that the local MLA of Khundrakpam A/C had exerted strong pressure on the authorities concerned to locate the office of SDC Sagolmang (previously attached at the office of SDO Sawombung located at Porompat) at Sagolmang in consideration of the inconveniences of the people of Sagolmang and fulfilled the same, he asked why the MLA of Lamlai A/C does not pay attention to the matter and relocate the office of SDO Sawombung till date.

He further questioned the role of the said MLA in taking up initiatives and welfare of the public of Lamlai A/C despite being elected for three consecutive terms.

Demanding the authorities concerned to relocate the office of SDO Sawombung in Lamlai A/C in view of the inconveniences face by the people within 45 days from today, he warned that the Lamlai Block Congress Committee will take on different forms of agitation along with the locals and womenfolk of Lamlai A/C if the authorities concerned failed to meet its (Lamlai Block Congress Committee) demand.

Later at the same venue, the Committee has also felicitated Chakpram ongbi Babita Leima (w/o Ch Boi Meitei) of Lamlai Mayai Leikai who has been conferred Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Academi Award recently apart from inspecting Lamlai Upper Primary School, Lamlai Mayai Leikai.
