Kangpokpi, September 26 2026: The Elmun Council, the governing body representing the Sitlhou, Lhouvum, Singsit and Singson clans held a traditional ceremonial blessing, known as Maicham, for their maternal grandson Daniel Kipgen, intending candidate for the 51-Saitu (ST) Assembly Constituency.

The blessing ceremony was held at Kholmunlen Village, where Daniel Kipgen sought the blessings and prayers of his maternal family, elders and well-wishers as he begins his future journey.

The programme was attended by leaders of the Elmun Council, Elmun Chiefs, Pastors, elders, members of Daniel Kipgen's family, the Central Working Committee of Team Saitu Shining and well-wishers.

An exhortation and blessing message was delivered by Pu Paojagin Elmun, President of Elmun Council General Headquarters, Nemboi, wife of Late Thangkolen Elmun Jampipa, Chief of Elmun also offered her blessings to Daniel Kipgen.

As part of the traditional Thadou blessing ceremony,the Elmun Council presented their maternal grandson Daniel Kipgen with a traditional gong and Samal (the hind leg of the sacrificed animal) as a symbolic blessing.
